A doctor from the United States plans to open a floating health clinic in the Gulf of Mexico, for women wanting to get an abortion done in the waters where US laws do not apply.
The Protecting Reproductive Rights of Women Endangered by State Statutes clinic said on its website that it would offer reproductive health and wellness services. People from Texas, Louisiana and other states on the Gulf coast are expected to be the main visitors to the clinic.
Recently, a 10-year-old girl who was raped in Ohio had to travel to Indiana to get an abortion. And she might be one of the lucky ones; most rape victims have to give birth to children they do not want.
The US Supreme Court's decision reversing women's abortion rights has increased problems for women desiring an abortion.
It is hard to imagine how the supreme court of a "democratic "country took a decision that is opposed by a majority. They might be there to uphold justice, but in reality justices in the US quarrel with each other for their party's narrow interests.
They might vote out of their free will, but their nominations reflect the tussle between the Donkey and the Elephant. So they might not realize it, but they have become tools of the ongoing struggle between the Democrats and Republicans.
It is this political struggle that has split US society. They overturn policies not because they are bad, but because they were initiated by someone from the other party. They oppose a decision not because it is against people's interests, but because it is made by someone from the other party.
While the politicians on Capitol Hill and the justices of the Supreme Court quarrel, it is the ordinary people who are suffering. Their right to abortion is no longer protected, gun control has been relaxed, everybody complains, but the politicians on Capitol Hill hardly care. |
